Tips For Buyers

  • Don’t make any huge purchases at least 3-6 months before you intend to buy. Don’t open any new credit cards at least 3-6 months before you intend to buy. Save as much money as you can.
  • Know the difference between being pre-qualified and pre-approved for a loan.  Do your research on loans to get the best deal and interest rate.  Get a pre-approval letter before you go shop.
  • Call your favorite Keller Williams agent!  Let them know how much house you can afford, the area and/or neighborhoods that you’d like to shop in, and your non-negotiables (must haves).
  • Don’t try to time the market…if you try to anticipate when the best time to buy and sell is, you will miss out!  When you find the perfect house and can afford it, that’s the best time to buy.
  • When you’re looking to buy, don’t just focus on the cost of the mortgage.  Be sure to remember/think about property taxes, utilities, and home owner-association dues – have reserve funds.
  • When you think you’ve narrowed down a neighborhood or area to live, visit it morning, noon and night.  See who your neighbors are and what kind of activity goes on in the neighborhood.
